How the price for a group is built

A charter is priced per boat, not per person, but the listed price covers a stated number of guests. Three patterns appear on the yacht pages:

A base number plus a fee per guest. Technema 89 Say Yes and Ferretti 80 Sofia include 12 guests and charge ฿2,000 for each one above that; Beluga 88 includes 12 and charges ฿3,000; The Origin 90 includes 20 and charges ฿1,000. On the largest yachts the fee is higher: ฿8,000 on Astondoa 102ft and ฿10,000 on Westport 130 Sea Bear, above 10 guests.
Group bands. Scallobs 65 is ฿95,000 for up to 20 guests, ฿115,000 for 21 to 40 and ฿135,000 for 41 to 60. Lobster 78 is ฿125,000 for up to 40 and rises in steps to ฿225,000 for 101 to 120. Pisces 85 is ฿250,000 for up to 30 in low season and ฿350,000 for 61 to 70.
One price for the whole boat. Vanora 170 is ฿588,500 for an eight-hour day for up to 80 guests.

Twelve boats take 40 or more, by day capacity. 40 guests: Satisfaction 55 and Westport 130 Sea Bear; 45: SPLO 74 CHOWA; 50: Fortuna 55, Siam Princess 70 and Indigo 53s Mario’s Brother; 55: Indigo 53 Super Mario; 60: Scallobs 65 and Shangani 70 Ft; 80: Vanora 170; 85: Pisces 85; 120: Lobster 78. A full day for 50 guests costs ฿91,150 on Fortuna 55, ฿114,000 on Siam Princess 70, ฿119,900 on Indigo 53 Super Mario, ฿135,000 on Scallobs 65 and ฿150,000 on Lobster 78. The other way to carry a large group is several boats on one route. The guest limit

Each boat is licensed for a set number of day guests, stated on its page, and children count towards it like any other guest: a boat rated for 30 takes 30 people, not 30 adults. Leopard 51 Aurora takes 25 on a full day and 35 on a half day. Overnight capacity is set by cabins and is far lower: Technema 89 Say Yes takes 30 by day and 8 overnight. What a large group pays on top

National park fees, per person and usually in cash: ฿400 per foreign adult at Phi Phi and ฿300 in Phang Nga Bay, which is ฿8,000 and ฿6,000 for 20 adults. Routes to Coral Island, Racha, Maiton and the Khai islands carry no park fee; fees route by route are in the guide to Phuket yacht routes.
Transfers. On Technema 89 Say Yes, Ferretti 80 Sofia and Beluga 88 a full day includes one return transfer vehicle for up to 10 guests; each additional vehicle for up to 10 guests is ฿3,000.
Tenders. The pages of Leopard 47 Summer S, Scallobs 65 and Lobster 78 state that groups over 20 need an extra long-tail or tender, and that pier, beach and transfer fees are paid by the guests on the day.

Where the boats leave from

Fifteen of the 40 leave from Chalong Pier in the south-east, 14 from Ao Po Grand Marina in the north-east, five from Boat Lagoon Marina, four from Royal Phuket Marina and two from Nakalay Pier on the west coast near Patong.
