30 guests on the Speed Catamaran: ฿64,900

The 62 ft speed catamaran with four engines from CoCo Pier prices its Phi Phi, Racha Noi or Phang Nga Bay day at ฿64,900 for up to 45 guests all year outside the peak, and ฿84,900 for 46 to 65. Thirty guests pay the first figure with no supplement, about ฿2,160 a head. The day runs up to nine hours between 08:00 and 19:00.

30 guests on Technema 89 Say Yes: ฿211,000

The nine-hour Phi Phi and Maiton day from Chalong Pier costs ฿175,000 from November to April for 12 guests, and 18 more at ฿2,000 each add ฿36,000, about ฿7,000 a head. What is the itinerary of a private boat tour to Phi Phi Island?

On a private boat tour the captain usually makes Maya Bay the first stop, before the tourist boats arrive: it is the cove on Phi Phi Leh, the smaller island, and it is at its best early. Pileh Lagoon next door is entered when the boat’s draft allows, and the crew says so on the day. Monkey Beach and Nui on Phi Phi Don, the larger island, come next, then Bamboo Island with its white sand, and Khai Nok is the usual last stop on the way home, so the full day trip is island hopping across up to six stops. The Phi Phi islands are in Krabi province, but by sea they are a day trip from the south coast of Phuket, and no boat in the catalogue sells a half day to Phi Phi, because the crossing takes too much of the day. Are Thailand’s national park fees in the group price?

The Hat Noppharat Thara-Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park fee is charged per person; on some boats it is included in the rate, otherwise it is paid at the rate confirmed with the quote. Westport 130 Sea Bear lists national park and island fees as included, and Splo 74 Chowa includes the marine park fee in its family rate.
