A private boat to Coral Island costs from ฿18,900 for a half day on a long-tail boat, and a day at Racha Yai from ฿33,900 on a long-tail boat or a 37 ft speedboat. A day that adds Racha Noi starts at ฿51,900; at the top, Racha Yai costs ฿390,000 on a 102 ft motor yacht. Every price is for the whole boat with its crew, not per person.

Chalong Pier on the south-east coast is the closest departure point to Coral Island, Racha and Maiton and has 20 of the 57 boats; four more leave from CoCo Pier in the south. What is each island like?
- Coral Island (Koh Hey). About 8 km from Chalong Pier, the shortest island day. White sand, clear water and activity on the beach; parasailing, banana boat, sea walking and diving are paid ashore.
- Racha Yai. About 24 km from Chalong Pier. White sand, Patok Bay and easy swimming, with somewhere to sit ashore: the island for a beach day.
- Racha Noi. About 35 km from Chalong Pier, rockier and deeper, with almost no facilities. Horizon Cruises Phuket calls it the better water, where people dive and snorkel off the boat; jet skis and similar motorised sports are not allowed on the island.
Most boats pair Racha Yai with Maiton, Coral Island or Banana Beach and sell Racha Noi together with Racha Yai. What a standard day includes is set out in what is included in a yacht charter.
Is there a park fee at Coral Island or Racha?
No national park fee is charged at Coral Island or the Racha islands, according to the route pages of Horizon Cruises Phuket and the guide to Phuket yacht routes. On the Phang Nga Bay and Krabi routes the park fee is ฿300 per person on top, which matters when comparing quotes across routes.
A few boat pages name island fees. Lagoon 450 St Anna and Leopard 51 Aurora say that an island entry fee at Coral Island is paid separately on a half day. Kiri Long-tail 40 and the other Chalong boats that route to Banana Beach list island admission fees, if applicable, as not included, and beach chairs and service fees at Banana Beach as free of charge. De Antonio D50 and Princess 42 list island or park fees among what the price includes. No page gives an amount, so ask what applies on the day.
When is the best time to go to Racha and Coral Island?
November to April is the reliable window: crossings to Racha Yai and Racha Noi are routine and Coral Island is at its flattest. From May to October Coral Island and the south-east bays go ahead on most days because the mainland blocks the swell, while Racha is decided against the forecast close to the date. Prices follow the season. A Racha Yai day on Lagoon 450 St Anna is ฿42,900 in June to October, ฿47,900 in November to May and ฿59,900 in the peak; on Leopard 51 Aurora ฿79,900, ฿84,900 and ฿94,900; on Azimut 46 ฿105,000 in May to October, ฿115,000 in November to April and ฿130,000 in the peak. Put five things side by side: the hours, the islands in the route, the number of guests the price covers, the season and what is paid on top. A Racha Yai quote of ฿79,900 and one of ฿118,000 can be the same Leopard 51 catamaran, with and without the fuel surcharge. One way that is 9 to 11 minutes, 26 to 31 minutes and 38 to 46 minutes by speedboat. A power catamaran takes 15 to 18 minutes, 43 to 52 minutes and 1 h 05 to 1 h 15. Can you go to Racha Yai for half a day?
On three of the 57 boats. Indigo 53 Super Mario sells a five-hour morning for ฿63,800 for 1 to 15 guests, and Technema 89 Say Yes and Ferretti 80 Sofia sell a four-hour half day for ฿110,000 in high season, not sold in the peak. On every other boat Racha Yai is a full day: 8 hours on 41 boats, 7 on three and 9 on four, with six boats not stating the hours. Coral Island is the half-day island: 16 boats sell it for 4 or 5 hours from ฿18,900.
How much more does Racha Noi cost than Racha Yai?
On the 12 boats that price both days side by side, the difference runs from nothing on the two Indigo catamarans, which charge one rate for every route, to ฿15,000 on Technema 89 Say Yes and Ferretti 80 Sofia.
