All 34 boats are listed by Horizon Cruises Phuket, the company ranked first of 23 in the Phuket Rating yacht charter ranking with 92.4 of 100 under the published methodology. Tonsai Bay and Maya Bay are about 47 km (25.5 nautical miles) east of Chalong Pier, Bamboo Island 48 km. The crossing times are one way at 25 to 30 knots for a speedboat, 15 to 18 for a power catamaran, 10 to 12 for a motor yacht and 6 to 8 for a sailing catamaran, before boarding and stops; a faster yacht takes less. Boat type sets how much of the day is spent under way. A speedboat spends about two hours of an eight-hour day under way and six at the islands. A motor yacht at 10 to 12 knots spends 4 h 20 to 5 h 10 under way. Five motor yachts on the list sell a longer day for Phi Phi: nine hours on Technema 89 Say Yes, Ferretti 80 Sofia and Beluga 88, ten on The Origin 90 and Westport 130 Sea Bear. Twelve list eight hours and four do not state the hours. The one sailing catamaran on the list, Lagoon 450 St Anna, runs a ten-hour day from 09:00 to 19:00; at 6 to 8 knots more than six of those hours are under way.

Which islands the day covers

The standard stops are Phi Phi Don, the inhabited island with Tonsai Bay, and Phi Phi Leh with Pileh Lagoon, Loh Samah Bay and Maya Bay. The yacht pages name the route precisely, and the price depends on it:

Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Leh only. Bertram 50ft, Azimut Atlantis 50ft and Leopard 51 Se La Vie quote this as an eight-hour day.
Phi Phi with a second island. Seven boats from Chalong add Koh Maiton on the way back: Technema 89 Say Yes, Ferretti 80 Sofia, The Origin 90, Kiri Long-tail 40, AQVA 37, Al Dhaen 38 Vice and Lagoon 450 St Anna. Five boats from Ao Po add the Khai islands: Azimut 46, Azimut 55 After 8, Prada 50, Riva 70 Aria Blue and Ocean Pearl 42ft.
Bamboo Island. It lies north-east of the main group and lengthens the day. On Ocean Pearl 42ft the Phi Phi and Bamboo route is ฿52,900 all year against ฿49,900 for Phi Phi and Khai; in peak the two routes are ฿55,900 and ฿52,900. Maya Bay rules and the park fee

No boat enters Maya Bay itself. In the open months boats moor at Loh Samah Bay on the south side of Phi Phi Leh and visitors walk in by boardwalk. Groups get about one hour, the beach is capped at 375 people at a time, and swimming is banned; wading is allowed to knee depth. Maya Bay closes every year from 1 August to 30 September, together with Loh Samah Bay and Lo Kor Bay, so in those two months a Phi Phi day means Pileh Lagoon, Phi Phi Don and Bamboo Island.

The Hat Noppharat Thara-Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park fee is ฿400 per foreign adult and ฿200 per child aged 3 to 14; children under 3 go free. The date-stamped ticket covers Maya Bay, Pileh Lagoon and Bamboo Island on the same day. The yacht pages of Technema 89 Say Yes, Ferretti 80 Sofia and Beluga 88 state the fee as ฿400 per person per day, paid separately. SPLO 74 CHOWA includes the park fee in its rate for up to 12 guests.

How many guests the price covers

The listed price often covers fewer guests than the boat can carry. Examples from the yacht pages:

Where boats to Phi Phi leave from

Fourteen of the 34 leave from Chalong Pier on the south-east coast, about 47 km from Phi Phi. Twelve leave from Ao Po Grand Marina on the north-east coast, seven from Royal Phuket Marina and one from Boat Lagoon Marina. When to go

November to April is the high season, with the calmer sea; the crossing to Phi Phi is open water. From May to October the boats with a separate low-season price are cheaper. Beluga 88 is ฿214,000 in low season against ฿267,500 in high season; Princess 54 is ฿119,000 against ฿149,000. The Christmas and New Year peak is priced separately on most boats: ฿299,600 on Beluga 88 and ฿215,000 on Technema 89 Say Yes and Ferretti 80 Sofia. Overnight at Phi Phi

After a night at anchor the boat is already at Phi Phi in the early morning, before day boats from Phuket can make the crossing. Listed two-day, one-night prices with a Phi Phi route:
